How to Build Wealth Without a University Education. Part 1.


Education is really good! But I know that it is a privilege and not everyone has that privilege.
I have seen people who really wanted to get an education while growing up but they didn't have the privilege. I have also seen people who had a good formal education but still have nothing tangible to show for it.

Bottom line is formal education is not an assurance for success and lack of formal education doesn't mean one is eternally condemned to poverty, just as the people in the image above prove this to be true.

I'm sure you've heard stories of peasants, farmers, housemaids, street children, who came from nothing and built wealth on and of their own, creating generations of wealth and prosperity.

So let's dive in and talk about the things you can do to built wealth with any education.

Learn a trade or a skill:

Learning a trade or acquiring a skill is education as well; you are learning and acquiring knowledge and this will set a path of income for you. These days there are plenty of small business owners around you that you can talk to and register with them to learn a trade. Also, there is a plethora of information online these days that you can take advantage of to acquire a trade. LinkedIn Learning offers thousands of courses you can take to learn a skill. From photography, digital marketing, computer programming, filming and directing, business intelligence and a whole lot more.



 Start a business

 After acquiring adequate knowledge you may start your own business with the knowledge and information you now have. It is important that you know about the business very well before you venture into it. Work hard and be diligent. Also, know when to expand and hire people to work with you. Trying to do it all alone is on the reason why businesses fail.

Develop your passion or talent.

 They say everyone has their own God-given talent, I believe. Finding and developing ones true talent is a  huge task. However, if you can find and develop your passion and talent and position yourself well you will be smiling to the bank even without any form of formal education.


Do apprenticeship

 An apprenticeship enables you to learn a trade or skill directly from an experienced business operator. You are able to learn and see how things are really done, every day over some years. There's a very common type of apprenticeship here in Lagos, where someone engages in active service in the business of an established business. This goes on for a specified number of years with an agreement of a settlement which may be in terms of funds or business set up for the apprentice. An apprenticeship service is a great way to set a path of income for you.

Take online courses

You can now take hundreds of free courses or paid courses online to complement your skill. You may learn a new skill or improve on your existing skill, Business Intelligence for example if you have a trade. Learning the fundamentals of business intelligence will help you improve your business strategy and grow your brand to something a wide range of people recognize, increase your potentials and expand your opportunities.
