What If You Fail?

As common as it sounds, the question is deep. This is the reason why some business ideas never get started. People are scared of failing even without trying. The fear of ‘what if I fail’ has eaten deep into most people that they longer see possibility in what they do. Everybody is more concerned about how people would perceive them if they fail.

The biggest question is: Why does failure cause some people to give up on their dreams while others bounce back even better than before? It has to do with the way they think about failure. Failure can be part of the long road to success—but only if you think about it in a way that’s productive.

Sir Winston Churchill once said, “Success is going from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm”. So, on your to success trying out different strategies, do not lose interest.

I encountered a lot of failures trying to set up some businesses in time past, but my failures didn’t limit me. It didn’t limit who I am and where I see myself. It has never stopped me from starting over or creating new projects or experimenting with new ideas. I persist because it matters. You too can do the same.

When you fail, dust off your body, stand firm again and keep moving! In life, you are going to have lots of back and forth. It’s a process. Your mindset needs some kind of upgrades. Stop being afraid of the unknown because each time you bounce back from problems and rise above obstacles, you will grow mentally stronger.
In Tim Harford book titled Adapt: Why Success Always Starts With Failure, he wrote: “success comes through rapidly fixing our mistakes rather than getting things right the first time.” You can also listen to the audio version of this book using this link.

Don’t let your failed projects and work consume you. Get back up and try again. Your mistakes should be your motivation, not your excuses. And no matter how many mistakes you make, or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.

So what’s the secret? Well, there isn’t any but if you happen to fail in life or business, here is what you can do:

Ask for help:
Nobody successfully navigates life alone. Some people have been there before you. Just maintain a flexible mindset and ask questions because every attempt is about learning!
So, when it seems difficult to figure out a better way, reach out to your network of trusted friends, and ask them for help. Your goal should be progressive, not perfection.

Take time to recover and start over.

Failure shouldn’t stop you from trying out something new. It makes you stronger and better prepared for new projects. When you fail, take time to get back on your feet on trying it out in a better way.

Always remember: You have more than one chance to create the life you want.

You will make mistakes at some point in life, and that’s okay, as long as you learn from them and figure out a different path towards the same goal. The biggest mistake you can make is to give up and accept that you can’t succeed because of who you are or where you come from. So start again when you get it wrong.

You may stumble, you may fail, but you are not your failure!
