How To Be Confident

One of the things that can hold anyone back from pursuing their dreams or becoming successful in life is fear of failure and the lack of self-confidence. It’s something we all face, to some degree, at some point in life. And I believe that if you are low in self-confidence, I strongly believe that you can do things to increase your self-confidence. You do not have to be reliant on others to increase your self-confidence. You can become someone worthy of respect, and someone who can pursue what he wants despite what people think.

So, here are ways to gain more confidence in yourself and be great.

Groom yourself
I’ll like to start with this point because it is a very obvious thing. Grooming yourself can make you feel different and comfortable in your skin. It’s amazing how much of a difference a shower and a shave can make in your feelings of self-confidence and for your self-image. There have been days when I turned my mood around completely with this one little thing. Appear neat in and out.

Dress nicely.
After grooming yourself, looking nice in appearance is another thing you need to boost your confidence. When you dress well, you’ll feel great, presentable and ready to tackle the world. Now, dressing nicely means something different for everyone.
It doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be expensive. It could be casual wear, but with a combination of good shoes and accessories, and you are good to go!

Get Prepared:
When you have done the two things listed above, next on the list is to get prepared. It’s hard to be confident in yourself if you don’t think you’ll do well at something. Beat that feeling by preparing yourself as much as possible. Read books, research and practice.
Think about taking an exam: if you haven’t studied, you won’t have much confidence in your ability to do well on the exam. But if you studied your book very well, you’re prepared, and you’ll be much more confident. Now think of life as your exam, and prepare yourself always.

Get Things Done
Getting things is as a result of preparing yourself. If you achieve small and big goals, you're going to feel much better about yourself. It begins with your day-to-day goals.
What do you need to accomplish today, and every day this week or three days this week to help meet your goal? If you accomplish the goals you set for every day, chances are you will begin meeting weekly and monthly goals, which brings you in range of your bi-annual and annual goals. Work on increasing your competence.

Kill Negative Thoughts
You have to learn to be aware of your thoughts, and the things you say to yourself. There are moments when I want to write four articles, and after I’ve written about two, I suddenly feel tired, and I hear this voice telling me to go and sleep, or watch movies. I'll say to myself, this is not the time to sleep, this is time to work. You too can do it. Silence the negative thoughts and act positively.

Stand-up For Yourself
When your goal, project, etc. is in its early stages, and someone says that your goal is stupid, or that you can not do it, it's tempting to believe them because they're joining the chorus of doubts inside your head.
You know what? You have to tell those people, and especially the voices in your head, that they're wrong. You have it in you. So tell them you believe in your goal, you believe in yourself, so you're going to accomplish it. Stand tall, and own your dreams.

Do The Right Thing
One thing the most confident people live by is doing the right thing. They live by the interest of the greater good not in their interest. Your actions and decisions define your character. Ask yourself what the best version of yourself that you aspire to be would do, and do it, that way, you are gaining more confidence.
