9 Things You Didn't Know About Aliko Dangote

     
A renown business mogul, known all over Africa and beyond, born 10th of April, 1957 is the owner of Dangote Group, who dominates some commodities in Nigeria and other African countries? he's no other than Alhaji Aliko Dangote GCON.

He was ranked the richest person in Africa and 23rd in the worlds by Forbes. Valued at about $25 billion, is the first black man to attain that position among the worlds 25 richest people.

Not so many things are hidden about the Nigerian billionaire as his profile is all over the internet, but here are few things you probably don't know about the C.E.O of Dangote Group.


1.HE'S HAD AN EYE IN BUSINESS FROM CHILDHOOD: Youth that actually aspires to be like Dangote should not think he achieved what he is today overnight. He was said to have been in love with business right from his tender age. Napoleon Hill stated in his book, "Think And Grow Rich", that "When your desires are strong enough, you will appear to possess superhuman powers to achieve it." Dangote started small, aim very high and take advantage of opportunities. He once stated "I can remember when i was in primary school, i would go and buy cartons of sweets and start selling just to make money. I was so interested in business even at that time."

2.HE ONCE WORK FOR SOMEONE: According to a statement "if you must lead, you must serve." Dangote had served his uncle, Sani Dangote. He was said to have served diligently while he gathered experience, skills and confidence.


3.HE STARTED HIS BUSINESS WITH A LOAN: Dangote approach his Uncle in 1977 and relay his plan to establish his own outfit, on which his request was granted and he was loaned a sum of 500,000 Naira to be paid back in 3 months which he did pay back before time elapse.

4.HE WORKS A LOT: If you don't know, it was reported that Dangote sleeps by 2:00 am and wakes by 5:00 am everyday. He spends time gathering ideas and strategizing how to grow his business.

5.HE IS TRUSTWORTHY: He keeps his credit records as well as his tax records tidy and he preaches that business should be done as stipulated by the regulatory bodies. He has always maintain a high grade of trust even to his uncle that gave him loan to start his business by returning the money before the agreed time elapse.


6.NOT THE FIRST: Dangote is not the first person to be rich in his family as his predecessors are money bags. For instance, his great grandfather Alhassan Dantata was the richest man in Africa when he was alive, he died two years before Dangote was born.

7.NO DISCRIMINATION: Dangote is not motivated by cultural or religious tribalism in that he employs anybody that has good prospect for enhancing more rapid growth of Dangote Group and Nigerian economy at large.

8.HE IS A PHILANTHROPIST: Dangote has proven to be a source of happiness to some homes and families in the country, his Dangote Foundation has provided more than 10 billion naira to combat poverty, and he also give grants and cash to women and children who are less privileged.

9.SURVIVES MULTIPLE PLANE CRASHES: Dangote has survived not one, two but three different cases of plane crashes that could have cost his life. In 1996, he escape the plane crash that killed his brother and Sani Abacha,  son of the then Nigeria's head of state.
   

Dangote has investments all over Nigeria and Africa, He once said, "Let me tell you this and I want to really emphasise it ... nothing is going to help Nigeria like Nigerians bringing back their money. If you give me $5 billion today, I will invest everything here in Nigeria. Let us put our heads together and work. Dangote Group has 30,000 staffs in Nigeria.

    2. This guy dey talk like say dem go mark this article for school. Yes it's good to proofread before posting but you telling the writer to remove it and correct before reporting makes me side with the person that commented before me. Everything English and this English isn't our language.

  4. I like the fact that he has a strong work ethic, it's a pity that many entrepreneurs today, immediately they just start making a few millions, they just relax and lose focus completely, as if a few millions is a gold mine!!
